By February, this will change. I will groan and think to myself, not another Hallmark movie. They are all the same! They are too sweet and too perfect! And then I'll put the Hallmark channel into purgatory for another six months until the next pumpkin season.
When I started writing my new series, Starlight Valley, I wanted to capture some of the things that I love about Hallmark movies. I wanted a quaint small-town that's just a little to cute to be real. I wanted a lovable male who loves the heroine unconditionally. I wanted a happy ending. But there were other things, things that never happen in Hallmark movies, that I knew I had to include. My male characters would have flaws. They would be real. They wouldn't alway be easy to love. My female characters would have goals and lives independent of the male. They would be sassy and sexy. They would have sex (GASP!!!) Their pasts would be complicated and messy. I wanted my characters and my stories to feel real. I've loved writing this series so far. I really hope everyone enjoys reading these books as much as I love a good Hallmark movie. The first two books are ready for pre-order now!

It's been hot in Chicago lately, so maybe that's why my latest work in progress has been heating up as well. I'm really loving this new series I'm writing. The first book, Something Moore, follows the story of William Moore and Riley Banks. Subsequent books in the series will follow the stories of the rest of the Moore brothers. If you want to get a taste of the Moore boys, check out a free sample from the first book which is available for pre-order now for just $0.99.
My best friend just got married a few days ago, so maybe that's why I was in the mood to write a follow up to About that Night. If you want to know more about Luke and Kasey's story, pick up the follow up novella.
Today my sixth book in the Second Chance Love Story series was officially released. This book is extra special because it also happens to the be long-awaited follow up to Searching for Glory. When I first wrote about Glory, Johnny, Jake, and Vic, the story flowed out of my fingers. Despite the sometimes sad twists and turns, it was also a story of love and redemption. When it was done, I thought I had left the characters in a place of closure. But after moving on to write other stories, those original characters kept coming back to me. I knew that I had to continue to tell their stories. What happened to Jake after losing his wife? Did Glory give up her acting career? What does her life look like now that she is finally together with Johnny, the love of her life? How are Vic's kids handling life without their mother? After Victory explores all of this, but most importantly the impossible challenge of moving on and learning to love again. The sequel took longer to write than the original, probably because of the pressure to stay true to the characters that readers grew to love in the first novel. I hope I've done them justice.
Fans of Searching for Glory will be excited to read this sequel, following the lives of Jake and Glory. Filled with the same heart and emotion as the original novel, After Victory explores the deepest human emotions- grief, love, and the beautiful agony that is life.
